The Assignment Builder is a versatile tool in Imagine MyPath that enables Teachers and Administrators to efficiently personalize student learning in their classrooms. With the Assignment Builder, you can:

 Note

An assignment can be made up of lessons or formatives, but not both, because each content type serves a particular purpose. Lessons contain multiple activities designed to support student learning and follow a gradual-release model that culminates in a mastery check that you can use to make personalized instructional decisions. Formatives are standalone mastery checks specifically meant to inform instructional decisions.

In contrast to the auto-assigned learning paths, the Assignment Builder gives you control over the selection and sequence of the content presented to students. The table below summarizes other key differences between assignments created using the Assignment Builder and lessons assigned to students in their learning paths.

Student Experience

Students who have assignments will see a My Assignments tile on their homepage.

Clicking that tile will take them to the My Assignments page, where they can access their new or ongoing assignments. Active assignments from all subjects are displayed by default, but students can filter the assignments by clicking a particular subject in the top left corner.

On each assignment tile, the due date is displayed, if applicable, and New! will indicate whether the assignment was recently assigned and/or has not yet been opened by the student. Under that, there is a progress bar that shows what portion of the assignment the student has completed so far.

Clicking Go or Start will open the assignment.

After opening an assignment, students are shown a course map that displays the lessons or formatives that make up the assignment. Students can only access one lesson or formative at a time. Future ones are greyed out. Clicking Start or Go opens the lesson or formative.

If a student exits an assignment before completing it, their progress is saved, allowing them to resume where they left off when they return to that assignment.
