Creating an assignment in Imagine MyPath

 Important update

Starting with the 2025–26 school year, formatives will no longer be available within Imagine MyPath. Instead, all formatives will be accessed exclusively through Imagine+ Formatives in the new Imagine+ Assessment product. MyPath customers from the 2024–25 school year who used formatives will receive complimentary access to Imagine+ Assessment, ensuring continued use of formatives for assessment and instructional planning. The process for assigning and reporting on formatives will remain familiar, but access will occur within Imagine+ Assessment.

Learn more about this transition or explore the Imagine+ Assessment Help Center.

Imagine MyPath's Assignment Builder is a tool that Teachers and Administrators can use to create assignments that support personalized learning in their classrooms. Assignments can be made up of lessons or pre-built formative assessments (if your organization still has access). Once an assignment has been created, you can use the Assignment Wizard to assign the assignment to individual students, small groups, or entire classes.

 Permissions

Both teachers and administrators can preview content and create assignments, but to assign them to students, you must have classes associated with your account. Also, student assignment data is only visible to the educator who assigned the assignment.

To create a new assignment

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and select the desired product.
  2. Click Assignment Builder in the left navigation panel. If you have access to multiple schools, you will be prompted to select a school after clicking Assignment Builder.

Click here to view the available filters and their descriptions

Clicking Filters opens the Filters menu. Active Filters are shown at the top. Click an arrow to expand a section and make other selections, if desired, and then click Apply to view the content that meets your new criteria. Click Reset Filters to return to your original Subject and Student Grade selections. If you want to start over, close the Filters menu and click the Assignment Builder icon in the left-side panel. This screenshot shows the available filters when searching for Lessons. For Formatives, only the Subject and Grade filters are available.

This table describes the available filters and their options.

    Filter Description
Subject This is the subject of the content you are searching for. Lessons are available in Math, Reading, and Purpose, depending on your organization's licensing.
Enrolled Grade This is the rostered grade level of your students. Grades K-12 are the available options.
Lesson Skill Level Choose to see content that is Below, On, or Above your students' rostered grade level.
Appropriate For This filter ensures that content is delivered to students in a developmentally appropriate manner. The available grade bands are K-2, 3-5, and 6-12. Your initial Student Grade selection determines the grade band to start, but you can choose other grade bands if needed. For example, if you have a Grade 6 student who would benefit from learning the content in smaller chunks, with more scaffolding or more visually stimulating elements, then you could choose the 3-5 grade band instead.
Lesson Type Lessons are categorized as either Instruction or Practice. Most lessons will be the Instruction type and are available for Grades K-12. Practice lessons are currently only available in Math for Grades K-2 and are great supplements to whole-class instruction. If you choose the Practice option and your search doesn't return any results, confirm that you have selected Math as the Subject and K, 1, or 2 as the Enrolled Grade.
  5. Click a lesson name to preview the content and print resources if needed.

     Note

If a K-5 student has the Spanish Language setting turned on for math in their profile and you assign a math assignment with a Spanish version, the student will receive the lesson in Spanish.
