Teachers and Administrators can use the Assignment Wizard to assign an assignment to individual students, small groups, or a whole class. Before you begin, make sure you have already created an assignment or edited a draft.
To assign an assignment to students:
- After you finish creating a new assignment or editing a draft, click Assign to open the Assignment Wizard.
- Select the students who should receive the assignment. Click Select Full Class to assign it to everyone in a class, or click the arrow next to a class name to expand the roster and choose individual students. You can also use the Search Student bar to find a student.
- Review the Selected Students panel. To remove a student, click the student's name. To clear the list and start over, click Remove All. Then click Continue.
-
Enter the assignment name students will see on their My Assignments page. To add a due date, choose Select due date and enter or choose a date. To leave the assignment open-ended, select No due date. Click Continue to proceed.
Note
Assignments remain active for students who have not completed them, even after the due date has passed.
-
Select an assignment icon. The icon helps developing readers identify the assignment. An icon is required for Grades K-2 and optional for Grades 3 and above. Click Continue to proceed.
-
Review the assignment details. To make changes, click the appropriate pencil (
) icon. When everything looks correct, click Finish.
Note
After you assign an assignment, you cannot add, remove, or reorder lessons. If you need a different lesson set or sequence, create a new assignment. You can still edit the assignment name, assignment icon, due date, and selected students.
- A confirmation message appears after clicking Finish. Students can open the assignment from their My Assignments page the next time they sign in. After the assignment card appears on your Assignment Dashboard, you can view student assignment data and monitor their progress.
