Next steps when a student completes a learning path in Imagine+ Math

When students complete their learning path in Imagine+ Math, they have worked through their personalized sequence of lessons and are ready for new challenges. This article explains how to identify students who have completed their learning paths, celebrate their achievement, and determine appropriate next steps.

Identifying completed learning paths

Detect when students have completed their learning paths using these reports:

  • Student Progress report: Shows an alert (no_lessons_left_in_learning_path.png) next to the student's name when they've completed their learning path
  • Class Summary report: Displays completion status and overall progress metrics for quick identification
  • Usage reports: Track lesson completion patterns to identify students approaching completion

 Note

Based on the recommended goal of 30 lessons passed per school year, most students complete their learning paths by late spring. Students who complete earlier may be ready for acceleration or enrichment.

Celebrating student achievement

Recognize student achievement when they complete their learning path:

  • Acknowledge the milestone: Print an achievement certificate to share with the student and their family
  • Document progress: Save completion reports and performance data for portfolios and conferences

Determining next steps

The appropriate next steps depend on which pathway the student completed, their performance data, and whether they were working below, at, or above grade level. Use the Standards Proficiency report and other performance data to assess readiness and identify any skill gaps before making placement decisions.

Student Scenario Recommended Next Steps
Completed Mastery pathway and is ready for above-grade-level enrichment Assign the Math Builder pathway with a placement grade one or more levels above the student's enrolled grade to introduce new concepts
Completed Builder pathway below grade level and is ready for on-grade-level practice Switch to the Math Mastery pathway at the student's enrolled grade level
Completed Builder pathway and needs continued support or further enrichment at a higher level Change the student's placement grade to a higher level within the Builder pathway
Has specific skill gaps identified in performance data Reassign lessons the student didn't pass, or use Assignment Builder to create targeted practice on specific skills
Needs enrichment aligned with classroom curriculum or specific content beyond their pathway Use Assignment Builder to create customized learning sequences from the content library
Needs hands-on practice or reteaching with teacher support Download worksheets and resources for guided practice and small-group or one-on-one intervention

 Note

Simply changing a student's placement grade within the Mastery pathway will not provide new content. Students who complete the Mastery pathway need to be assigned the Builder pathway with a higher placement to continue learning.

 Recommendation

When you assign a student a new pathway, consider deactivating the completed pathway to keep the student's homepage organized and focused on their current learning goals.
