Reassigning a lesson for a student in Imagine MyPath

 Note

This article applies to the following products:

  • Imagine MyPath Math
  • Imagine MyPath Reading
  • Imagine Purpose

Teachers and Administrators can reassign completed lessons in a student's learning path when additional practice would benefit student understanding. Reassigning a lesson gives students another opportunity to work through content they need to master, especially after targeted intervention or reteaching has occurred.

When to reassign lessons

Consider reassigning lessons when:

  • The student met the minimum passing threshold but would benefit from more practice.
  • The student didn't pass originally, but you've provided targeted instruction and want to assess improvement.
  • The student passed an early mastery check that allowed them to bypass instructional and/or practice activities, but based on your observations, you think the student would benefit from completing the entire lesson.

To reassign a lesson:

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and select the desired product.
  2. Select a class.
  3. Click a student's name to open their Student Progress report.

  4. The Current and Complete view opens by default. Locate the completed lesson you want to reassign and click the reassign icon (lesson-reassign-cycle.png) in the Edit column.

What happens after reassigning a lesson

For the student

  • The student will be directed to the reassigned lesson after completing the current lesson they are working on
  • If multiple lessons are reassigned, the student begins with the earliest lesson in their learning path sequence
  • Students progress through reassigned lessons before continuing with their regular pathway

In the Student Progress report

  • Current and Complete view: The original lesson data remains visible until the student begins the reassigned lesson

  • Upcoming view: The reassigned lesson appears with a "Reassigned" indicator and the date it was reassigned

  • Once the student starts the reassigned lesson, it moves to the Current and Complete view and overwrites the previous attempt with updated data

Impact on other reports

Report Impact
Class Summary Original lesson data is removed to prevent confusion and ensure teachers have access to the most accurate and up-to-date data
Class Progress Lesson status changes to "Not Started" until student completes the reassigned lesson—the report always displays the results of the most recent attempt
Usage Reports All lesson attempts and time spent are retained for complete usage tracking

 Note

Only completed lessons can be reassigned. If you don't see a reassign icon for a lesson on the Current and Complete view, check the Upcoming view—the lesson may already be reassigned, and the student hasn't started it yet.

 Recommendation

Use reassignment strategically after providing targeted instruction or intervention. This allows you to assess whether your additional support helped the student master the concept before they continue in their learning path.
