Understanding Pathway Options in Imagine Math 3+

Imagine Math pathways are series of lessons that are delivered to students. Each pathway has Pathway Options that determine specific pathway behaviors. The Pathway Options appear when Teachers or Administrators edit a custom pathway or create a new pathway

Use the table below to understand each option and determine which options best align to your school or district goals.

Pathway Options

Term/Field Description
Use Benchmark Test Remediation

If checked, students scoring below grade level on the Benchmark Test or NWEA MAP Growth Assessment will receive additional lessons (remediation lessons) either as prerequisite lessons and/or throughout their pathway. In the Student Progress Report, lessons added via Benchmark Remediation are identified as shown below.

If unchecked, students will receive pathway content without the remediation normally prescribed based on the Benchmark Test or the NWEA MAP Growth Assessment results.

Use Pathway Remediation

If checked, students who do not pass lessons on their pathway will have any available remediation lessons inserted into their pathway. In the Student Progress Report, lessons added via Pathway Remediation are identified as shown below. These lessons are added throughout the pathway as determined by the students' progress through each lesson.

If unchecked, students will not receive any additional remediation for lessons they don't pass.

Allow Test Out If checked, students scoring 80% or higher on a Pre-Quiz will test out of the lesson and move on to the next lesson. The lesson they tested out of counts as a passed lesson for them.

If unchecked, students scoring 80% or higher on a Pre-Quiz will still receive all the components of the lesson
Require Pre-Quiz

If checked, students are presented with the Pre-Quiz.

If unchecked, students will not be presented with the Pre-Quiz unless Allow Test Out is enabled. In cases where Allow Test Out is checked and Require Pre-Quiz is unchecked, students can decide if they want to take the Pre-Quiz or not.

 Notes

If Allow Test Out is unchecked and Require Pre-Quiz is checked, students must take the Pre-Quiz. If they score 80% or higher, they still complete the rest of the lesson.

If Allow Test Out and Require Pre-Quiz are both checked, students must take the Pre-Quiz. If they score 80% or higher, they skip the rest of the lesson.

If Allow Test Out and Require Pre-Quiz are both unchecked, students will not receive the Pre-Quiz.

 Note

For the default grade-level pathways created by Imagine Math, the following options are enabled by default:

      • Use Benchmark Remediation

      • Use Pathway Remediation

      • Allow Test Out

      • Require Pre-Quiz

If you wish to change these options, you must clone the pathway, change the cloned pathway's options, and then assign it to students.

 Recommendations

For custom pathways, the only setting that is enabled by default is Allow Test Out. If you wish for the pathway to behave like the grade-level pathways your students may be used to, please also enable:

  • Use Benchmark Remediation

  • Use Pathway Remediation

  • Require Pre-Quiz

However, if you want all students to take the same lessons in the same order at the same time, uncheck both Remediation options so that no additional lessons are inserted when students fail lessons.
