Teachers and Administrators can preview lessons and formatives in the Assignment Builder before assigning them to students. This is an important step to ensure that the content, difficulty level, and skills addressed in an assignment align with your students' needs and learning goals.
Use this article to learn how to preview lessons and formatives in Imagine MyPath.
To preview content in the Assignment Builder:
- Log in to the Imagine MyPath suite.
- Teachers: Click Assignment Builder in the left navigation pane.
Administrators with access to multiple schools: Click Assignment Builder in the left navigation pane, then select the desired school.
- In the Content Explorer, select either Lessons or Formatives, and then choose a Subject and Content Grade. Click Search to see the available content that matches your criteria.

Formatives: K-8This is your students’ rostered grade level and helps identify content as Below, On, or Above grade level during your search. It also ensures that the selected content is delivered to your students in an age-appropriate manner. - The Content Explorer is slightly different for lessons and formatives. Click each tab below to see what searching and previewing content is like for each content type.
For Lessons, you can use the filters or search bar to modify the results.
Click here to view the available filters and their descriptions.Clicking Filters opens the Filters menu. Active Filters are shown at the top. Click an arrow to expand a section and make other selections, if desired, and then click Apply to view the content that meets your new criteria. Click Reset Filters to return to your original Subject and Content Grade selections. To start over, exit out of the Filters menu and click on the Assignment Builder icon in the left-side panel.

Filter Description Subject This is the subject of the content you are searching for. Lessons are available in Math, Reading, Science, and Purpose, depending on what your school or district purchased. Enrolled Grade This is the rostered grade level of your students. Lessons are available for Grades K-12. Lesson Skill Level Choose to see lessons that are Below, On, or Above your students' rostered grade level. Appropriate For This filter helps you find lessons that are developmentally appropriate for your students. The available grade bands are K–2, 3–5, and 6–12. Your initial Content Grade selection determines the grade band to start, but you can choose other grade bands if you would like to compare how the same content would be presented to students in different grade bands. Lessons designed for the lower grade bands tend to have content broken down into smaller chunks, with more scaffolding and more visually stimulating elements. Lesson Type Lessons are categorized as either Instruction or Practice. Most lessons will be the Instruction type and are available for Grades K–12. Practice lessons are currently only available in Math for Grades K–2 and are great supplements to whole-class instruction. If you choose the Practice option and your search doesn't return any results, confirm that you have selected Math as the Subject and K, 1, or 2 as the Enrolled Grade. Next to each lesson, details are shown, including the Lesson Grade Level, what grade band it is Appropriate For, the Lesson Skill Level, any relevant Standards, and the Lesson Type. The borders around the lessons are color-coded to indicate whether their skill level is Below (yellow), On (blue), or Above (green) grade level. If you hover a standard code, a description of the standard appears.
Click a lesson name to preview the lesson.
The top portion of the page you are taken to shares details about the selected lesson, including the Overview, Domain, and Standards. Hovering over a standard code here also displays its definition. On the right, the lesson resources are shown, which include printable worksheets and guided notes. The worksheets are intended for individual or small-group reteaching sessions with students. The guided notes are available for lessons for Grades 6–12 and help scaffold student learning while they move through the lesson. Teacher versions of the resources are labeled accordingly. Click a resource name to preview it, or click the download icon to save it to your device. Scroll down to preview the lesson.
This is where you can view the different activities within the lesson, along with the questions that a student will be asked in each activity. In the top left, use the drop-down menu to navigate to other activities in the lesson. At the bottom of the page, use the pagination and arrows to go to other slides in the current activity. If a lesson has English and Spanish versions, a language selector will appear in the top right (not shown here), and you can choose to view the lesson in Spanish.
For Formatives, you can use the filters or search bar to modify the results.

Filter Description Subject This is the subject of the content you are searching for. Formatives are only available in Math and Reading, but what appears to you here depends on the products your organization purchased. Grade This is the rostered grade level of your students. Formatives are available for Grades K–8. Keep in mind that the student experience is different for Grades K–2 versus 3–8. For each formative, the relevant standards are shown as well as the number of questions that students will be asked. Hover over a standard code to see a description of the standard.
Click a formative name or Preview to preview the formative.
Within the previewer, you can view each question in the assessment. Click Show Answers in the top right to make green checkmarks appear next to the correct answers.
At the bottom of the window, use the pagination, arrows, or Next button to navigate to other questions in the assessment. Click Close Preview to return to your search results in the Content Explorer.
