Student experience in the Grade 6–12 Imagine+ Diagnostic

 Important update

Starting with the 2025–26 school year, MyPath Assessment is transitioning to Imagine+ Assessment and will become the Imagine+ Diagnostic. MyPath customers from the 2024–25 school year who used the MyPath Assessment will receive complimentary access to Imagine+ Assessment. The student experience within assessments will remain the same, and placement into MyPath learning paths will continue to function as before.

Learn more about this transition or explore the Imagine+ Assessment Help Center.

The Imagine+ Diagnostic® (previously the MyPath Assessment) provides students in Grades 6–12 with a testing interface designed for their age group, regardless of their academic ability level. The assessment delivers content and visuals appropriate for middle and high school students, supporting independent test-taking and accurate measurement of skills across various domains.

 Note

Students must be assigned to take the Imagine+ Diagnostic by an administrator using the Flexible Scheduler in Imagine+ Assessment. The assessment is not automatically available to all students and requires administrative scheduling.

Beginning the assessment

To start the assessment, students will need to do the following:

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and click the Imagine+ Assessment tile. (If Imagine+ Assessment is the only product assigned to the student, it automatically opens.)

Details of the assessment

The assessment experience for Grades 6–12 includes the following features:

  • Welcome – Students are greeted and informed they will be taking a test to discover their current understanding and identify areas for growth. They are reminded that it is normal for some questions to seem too easy or extremely hard as the assessment adapts to find their instructional level.
  • Audio Check – Used as an opportunity to verify the functionality of students' hardware. If students indicate that their headphones are not playing the music, they are prompted to ask for help.

  • Testing Interface – The interface for Grades 6–12 features a clean, age-appropriate design with a smaller font size and streamlined navigation bar positioned at the bottom of the screen. Students encounter content that evaluates various domains and skills spanning different grade bands, as the assessment adapts to determine their precise ability level.
  • Progression – Students must select an answer for each question to proceed to the next item. They should do their best, select an answer even if uncertain, and click Next. Receiving help from others may result in more challenging questions and inaccurate assessment results.
  • Auto-saving – As students move from one item to another, their testing progress is automatically saved. There is no requirement to manually save before exiting.
  • Pause and Exit Options – Students can pause the test and exit at any time using the Pause button or the X in the top right corner. When resuming, they will continue from where they left off.
  • Transition Screens – Between sections, transition screens with audio and positive reinforcement help keep students motivated and informed about their progress.

  • Congratulatory Final Screen – Upon completing the test, students are directed to a celebratory screen. Once they click Done, they will be redirected to their assessment dashboard. If a student overlooks selecting Done, their test is still saved and the results are available in reports.
