Student experience in the Grade 2–5 Imagine+ Diagnostic

 Important update

Starting with the 2025–26 school year, MyPath Assessment is transitioning to Imagine+ Assessment and will become the Imagine+ Diagnostic. MyPath customers from the 2024–25 school year who used the MyPath Assessment will receive complimentary access to Imagine+ Assessment. The student experience within assessments will remain the same, and placement into MyPath learning paths will continue to function as before.

Learn more about this transition or explore the Imagine+ Assessment Help Center.

The Imagine+ Diagnostic® offers students in Grades 2–5 an age-appropriate, streamlined assessment experience designed to identify their current knowledge and areas for growth. The interface and features are tailored for older elementary students, providing a balance of accessibility and challenge.

 Note

Students must be assigned to take the Imagine+ Diagnostic by an administrator using the Flexible Scheduler in Imagine+ Assessment. The assessment is not automatically available to all students and requires administrative scheduling.

Beginning the assessment

To start the assessment, students will need to do the following:

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and click the Imagine+ Assessment tile. (If Imagine+ Assessment is the only product assigned, it opens automatically.)

Details of the assessment

The assessment experience for Grades 2–5 includes the following features:

  • Welcome – Students are greeted and informed they will be taking a test to discover what they know and to help identify what they are ready to learn next. They are reminded that it is normal for some questions to feel easy and others to feel challenging.
  • Audio Check – Students are prompted to check their headphones or speakers. If they cannot hear the audio, they are instructed to ask for assistance.

  • Testing Interface – The interface for Grades 2–5 is streamlined, with a smaller font and a less prominent navigation bar than the K–1 version. Students may encounter questions with or without audio support. The assessment adapts to each student, so questions may sometimes feel too easy or too hard—this is expected and helps pinpoint each student's instructional level.

     Note

Some questions may include audio support. Encourage students to do their best on every question, as the assessment is designed to find their "just right" level.

  • Transition Screens – Between sections, students see transition screens with audio and positive reinforcement to keep them motivated and informed about their progress.

  • Auto-saving – Progress is automatically saved as students move from one item to the next. There is no need to manually save before exiting.
  • Pause and Exit Options – Students can pause or exit the test at any time using the Pause button or the X in the top right corner. When resuming, they will continue from where they left off.
  • Congratulatory Final Screen – Upon completion, students see a celebratory screen. Clicking Done returns them to their assessment dashboard. If a student does not click Done, their work is still saved and results are available in reports.
