Student experience in the Grade K–1 Imagine+ Diagnostic

 Important update

Starting with the 2025–26 school year, MyPath Assessment is transitioning to Imagine+ Assessment and will become the Imagine+ Diagnostic. MyPath customers from the 2024–25 school year who used the MyPath Assessment will receive complimentary access to Imagine+ Assessment. The student experience within assessments will remain the same, and placement into MyPath learning paths will continue to function as before.

Learn more about this transition or explore the Imagine+ Assessment Help Center.

The Imagine+ Diagnostic® is designed to assist Grades K–1 students who are new to online testing. It offers an age-appropriate interface and experience to aid young learners in showcasing their knowledge and pinpoint specific areas of academic need.

 Note

Students must be assigned to take the Imagine+ Diagnostic by an administrator using the Flexible Scheduler in Imagine+ Assessment. The assessment is not automatically available to all students and requires administrative scheduling.

Beginning the assessment

To start the assessment, students will need to do the following:

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and click the Imagine+ Assessment tile. (If Imagine+ Assessment is the only product assigned to the student, it automatically opens.)

Details of the assessment

Assessments include the following features:

  • Welcome – Students are greeted and informed they will be taking a test, and encouraged to Do their best and they'll do great!
  • Audio Check – Used as an opportunity to verify the functionality of students' hardware. If students indicate that their headphones are not playing the music, they are prompted to ask for assistance.

  • Online Test Orientation – The online test orientation is an interactive multimedia experience that guides K–1 students through the testing interface, familiarizing students with essential components, including the Repeat and Next buttons and progress bar. It also demonstrates how to interact with common item types, such as multiple choice and drag-and-drop.

  • Testing Interface – To improve accessibility for students in Grades K–1, larger buttons are provided. During the test, passages and questions are read aloud. Students can replay them using the Play and Repeat buttons. Selected answer options are also read out loud and marked with a speaker icon at the top left of the screen.

     Note

For K–1 students who perform well on lower-level items, subsequent questions may not have audio support. This is standard procedure, and it is crucial to motivate students to do their best without providing assistance. Answering questions correctly will unlock more advanced content-based questions.

  • Auto-saving – As students move from one item to another, their testing progress is automatically saved. Therefore, there is no requirement to manually save before exiting.
  • Transition Screens – Transition screens, complete with audio and positive reinforcement, are included between each stage to support K–1 students during the assessment.

  • Pause and Exit Options – Students can pause the test and exit at any time. There are two ways to access the pause/exit modal:
    • Click the Pause button on the toolbar
    • Use the X in the top right corner of the test
When the test is paused, students can either resume or exit. They will continue from where they left off upon resuming the assessment.
  • Congratulatory Final Screen – Upon completing the test, students are directed to a celebratory screen. Once they click Done, they will be redirected to their assessment dashboard. If a student overlooks selecting Done, their test is still saved and the results are available in reports.
