Using Imagine+ Diagnostic with Imagine MyPath

 Note

This article applies to the following products:

  • Imagine MyPath Math
  • Imagine MyPath Reading

Use Imagine+ Diagnostic with Imagine MyPath to assess students, create or update placement, and personalize learning paths. This article explains what to confirm before testing, what students experience, how to check placement, and what to do if placement does not appear as expected.

Before you schedule a Diagnostic

Before you schedule a Diagnostic, confirm that students have been given access to Imagine+ Assessment and the applicable Imagine MyPath subject.

  • Your organization has licenses for Imagine+ Assessment and the applicable Imagine MyPath subject.
  • Your organization uses Imagine+ Diagnostic as the assessment provider for the applicable Imagine MyPath subject.
  • In the Product Portal, students and classes are assigned the Imagine+ Assessment tile and the product tile for each product they will use.

 Note

Imagine+ Assessment is licensed separately from Imagine MyPath. If you cannot confirm your organization’s product access or assessment-provider setup, contact your Imagine Learning Customer Success Manager before you schedule the Diagnostic.

How placement works

  • An administrator uses the Flexible Scheduler in Imagine+ Assessment to schedule a Diagnostic for students at the district, school, class, or student level.
  • During the open assessment window, students included in the schedule can open the Diagnostic from the Imagine+ Assessment tile.
  • When Imagine+ Diagnostic is the assessment provider, students who select the applicable Imagine MyPath tile during an open assessment window are directed to their scheduled Diagnostic before they enter their learning path.
  • After students complete the Diagnostic, Imagine MyPath uses the completed results to create or update placement and personalize the learning path.

What students experience

  • Students can open scheduled Diagnostics from the Imagine+ Assessment tile.
  • Students can pause the Diagnostic and continue it in another session while the assessment window remains open.
  • Students keep their existing placement until a newer completed Diagnostic result is processed and applied in Imagine MyPath.

Check placement after students complete the Diagnostic

After the Diagnostic results are available, check the student’s assessment result in Imagine+ Assessment and placement in Imagine MyPath.

To check a student’s placement:

  1. In Imagine+ Assessment, confirm that the student’s Diagnostic status is Completed.
  2. Confirm that the student’s results appear in the Diagnostic Report.
  3. In Imagine MyPath, open the applicable class, school, or district view and select Student Placement.
  4. Confirm the placement source and placement date for the student.

 Note

Placement does not appear immediately after a student completes the Diagnostic. Allow up to 3 days for Imagine MyPath to process the results and create or update the student’s personalized learning path.

 Success

Placement is complete when the student’s placement information appears in Student Placement and the student has an assigned learning path.

Troubleshoot placement

Select the situation that best matches what you see.

A student is not sent to the Diagnostic.

Check the following:

  • The student has access to Imagine+ Assessment and the applicable Imagine MyPath subject.
  • The student is included in a Diagnostic schedule for the correct subject.
  • The assessment window is open.
  • Imagine+ Diagnostic is the assessment provider for the applicable Imagine MyPath subject.

Correct the student’s access or schedule. If you cannot confirm the placement-provider setting, contact your Imagine Learning Customer Success Manager.

A student cannot access Imagine+ Assessment or Imagine MyPath.

In the Product Portal, confirm that the student is assigned the Imagine+ Assessment tile and the applicable Imagine MyPath product tile.

Select MyPath Math/Imagine+ Math for students who use Imagine MyPath Math. Select MyPath Reading for students who use Imagine MyPath Reading.

If students use both Imagine MyPath Math and Imagine MyPath Reading, confirm that they are assigned all 3 tiles: Imagine+ Assessment, MyPath Math/Imagine+ Math, and MyPath Reading.

If your organization uses automated rostering, ask your administrator to review the student’s class assignment and product access.

A student started but did not finish the Diagnostic.

Check the student’s assessment status in Imagine+ Assessment. If the assessment window is still open, have the student return to the Diagnostic and complete it.

If the assessment window has closed, ask an administrator to review the schedule and reopen or update it if needed.

Results appear in Imagine+ Assessment, but placement does not appear in Imagine MyPath.

Confirm the following:

  • The Diagnostic status is Completed.
  • Results appear in the Diagnostic Report.
  • The student has access to the applicable Imagine MyPath subject.
  • The completed Diagnostic was scheduled for the subject used for placement.
  • Imagine+ Diagnostic is the assessment provider for the student’s grade level and applicable Imagine MyPath subject.

Some organizations use different assessment providers for different grade levels or subjects. If your organization uses more than one provider, confirm which provider applies to the student before you troubleshoot the Diagnostic result.

If placement does not appear after 3 days, contact Imagine Learning Support or your Customer Success Manager.

The placement does not reflect the student’s current needs.

Review the student’s Diagnostic Report and placement details before changing placement. Consider whether the student completed the assessment independently and under appropriate testing conditions.

If the placement needs to change, use the manual-placement articles in the next section.

Use manual placement when needed

If a completed Diagnostic does not reflect a student’s current instructional needs, you can manually adjust the student’s placement in Imagine MyPath.

 Note

Future assessment results can automatically update a manually assigned placement. To keep the student’s manual placement, enable Lock Placement when you assign or edit the placement.
