Changing pathway statuses in bulk in Imagine MyPath and Imagine+ Math

District and School Administrators can change learning path statuses for multiple students at once from the Student Placement page. In Imagine+ Math, you can also set Math pathways to Paused.

Note

Only Math and Reading learning paths can be changed in bulk. The subject options that appear to you depend on your organization's product licensing. 

To change pathway statuses in bulk:

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and select the desired product tile.
  2. In the left navigation panel, click Users, then select the Student Placement card.

  3. (Optional) Use the Filters to narrow your student list.

    Filter Description
    Grade Level The students' rostered grade level.
    Overall Placement The instructional grade level assigned to a student—determined by assessment results or manual assignment.
    Placement Describes each student's overall placement in relation to their rostered grade, or indicates placement status. Options:
    - Above Grade Level
    - On Grade Level
    - 1 Grade Below
    - 2+ Grades Below
    - Not Placed
    - Deactivated
    - Paused (Imagine+ Math only)
    Subject The learning path subject: Math, Reading, or Purpose. Choose Math, Reading, or both since you cannot take bulk actions on Purpose learning paths.
    Source Indicates how the student's overall placement grade was assigned. Options:
    - Manual (set by an educator)
    - Imagine+ Diagnostic
    - NWEA
    - Renaissance
    - System (automatic assignment)

  4. Select the placements you want to update. You can select individual placements or use the checkbox in the top-left corner to select all placements on the page.

    Caution

    You can change the status of a maximum of 500 placements at once. If you select more than 500 students, an alert will appear and you’ll need to reduce your selection.

  5. Click Bulk Actions and choose Change Pathway Status.

  6. Choose the desired status in the Select Status dropdown for one or both subjects, as applicable. Status options may include Restored and Deactivated. For Imagine+ Math pathways, Paused may also be available.

  7. Click Next to proceed to the confirmation step.

  8. Review the confirmation modal, which lists the subject(s), selected status for each subject, and number of students affected. Click Update to apply the status change.

    A success message appears when the update is complete.

What happens after changing pathway status in bulk?

  • Deactivated: Deactivated placements make those students' learning paths inactive. They will not progress on those paths unless reactivated, and they will not appear on educator reports.
  • Restored: Restored placements return to Active with no loss of progress or data.
  • Paused (Imagine+ Math only): Paused pathways are hidden from students' dashboards but remain visible in educator reports, including placement, progress, and usage data. Paused pathways cannot be edited in the Student Progress report.

Important considerations

  • Changes only apply to assigned placements. Unassigned or already deactivated pathways will not be affected unless selected for activation.
  • Bulk changes cannot be reversed in one step. To change a pathway again, repeat this workflow and select the new status.
