Manually assigning the Builder Path to a student in Imagine+ Math

All students in Imagine+ Math are initially placed in the Math Mastery pathway, but Teachers and Administrators can manually assign a student to the Math Builder pathway when appropriate. Some reasons to assign the Builder Path manually include:

  • The student is significantly below grade level or demonstrates persistent struggles with on-grade-level content despite accommodations, indicating a need for foundational skill support.
  • Recent classroom assessments or observations indicate large skill gaps not yet reflected in online program data.
  • There is a need for immediate intervention before the next scheduled assessment administration or update.
  • The student is far above grade level and ready for advanced instruction or enrichment.
  • The student completed their current Mastery pathway and is ready for higher grade-level content.

This approach ensures students receive the appropriate instructional path based on real-time educator insights, not just automated placement criteria.

  6. (Optional) If the new placement grade is one or more grades above the student’s rostered grade, the option to Enable Content Bridge will appear. Check this box to assign a condensed set of lessons from the student's rostered grade before advancing to above-grade content. To learn more about this feature, see Managing a student's learning path settings.

 Recommendation

If you want the student to have access to only one pathway (either Builder or Mastery), make sure to deactivate the other pathway after assigning the new path. This can reduce confusion and ensure that the student is working on the most appropriate content for their needs. See Deactivating a student's learning path for step-by-step instructions.

What happens after assigning the Builder Path?

Once you assign the Builder Path to a student, here is what you—and your student—can expect:

  • Unless you deactivate the pre-existing Mastery path, the next time the student logs in and opens Imagine+ Math, they will see a new Builder tile next to their existing Mastery tile. Explain the change to the student, and direct them to the Builder tile if that is what you would like them to work on next.
  • Monitor the student’s engagement and progress in both pathways using the reporting tools. You may also choose to deactivate or pause pathways anytime based on the student's evolving needs.
  • Use the Assignment Builder to offer targeted support or enrichment lessons when particular skills or standards are the priority.
