When students complete their learning path, it represents significant academic achievement and creates an important opportunity for continued growth and enrichment. This milestone indicates that students have successfully worked through their personalized sequence of lessons and are ready for new challenges that build on their demonstrated competencies.

Identifying completed learning paths

You can detect when students have completed their learning paths through multiple reporting tools:

  • Student Progress report: Shows an alert (no_lessons_left_in_learning_path.png) next to the student's name when they've completed their learning path
  • Class Summary report: Displays completion status and overall progress metrics for quick identification
  • Usage reports: Track lesson completion patterns to identify students who've almost completed their learning path

 Note

Based on the recommended goal of 30 lessons passed per school year, most students complete their learning paths by late spring. Students who complete earlier in the year represent opportunities for acceleration and enrichment.

Celebrating student achievement

Learning path completion deserves recognition and celebration:

  • Acknowledge the milestone: Print an achievement certificate to share with the student and their family
  • Document progress: Save completion reports and performance data for portfolios and conferences

Determining next steps

Use data from multiple sources to make informed decisions about each student's continued learning:

Review performance patterns

  • Analyze completion data: Review scores, time spent, and areas of strength in the completed path
  • Identify skill gaps: Use the Standards Proficiency report to pinpoint specific areas needing reinforcement—only applicable to Math and Reading learning paths

Assess readiness for advancement

  • High-performing students: Consider placement in a higher grade level or enrichment pathway
  • Students with gaps: Focus on targeted remediation before advancing
  • Consistent achievers: Explore acceleration opportunities or advanced content

Available options for continued learning

Choose from several approaches based on student needs and performance data:

Option Best For Description
Grade-level advancement High-performing students ready for new challenges Place students in a higher placement grade to access more advanced content
Targeted remediation Students with specific skill gaps Reassign lessons the student didn't pass or use Assignment Builder for focused skill development
Custom assignments Students needing specific content or enrichment Use Assignment Builder to create personalized learning sequences aligned with classroom curriculum
Offline reinforcement Students needing hands-on practice Utilize downloadable worksheets and resources for guided practice and intervention
