Bulk-assigning student placement grades in Imagine MyPath

Note

This article applies to the following products:

  • Imagine MyPath Math
  • Imagine MyPath Reading

In Imagine MyPath, District and School Administrators can bulk-assign placement grades to students on the Student Placement page. A student's overall placement grade determines the grade-level content that gets assigned to them in their learning path. If you will not be administering the Imagine+ Diagnostic and you do not have an assessment integration with NWEA or Renaissance, use this article to learn how to assign placement grades to many students at once.

Note

Only placements in Math and Reading can be assigned in bulk. The subject options that appear to you depend on your organization's product licensing.

To bulk-assign student placements at the school level:

  1. Log in to the Product Portal and select the desired product.
  2. Go to the Student Placement page. Select the tab below that corresponds to your user type to view navigation instructions.

In the left navigation panel, click Users, then select Student Placement.

  3. Use the Filters to narrow the student list, as needed.

Click here to see which filters are recommended for bulk assignment
    • Grade Level: Use this filter to view students in a specific grade, which is useful because only one placement grade can be bulk-assigned at a time. For example, if you selected Grade 5, you could assign a Grade 5 placement grade to all Grade 5 students.

    • Placement status: Choose Not Placed to find students who don’t have a placement yet. This is recommended so that you do not accidentally override existing placements.

    • Subject: Select Math, Reading, or both, depending on your organization's product licensing and your bulk-assignment goals.

  4. Select student placements you'd like to assign placements to by either:
    A. Checking the box in the top-left to select all students on the page.
    B. Checking the boxes next to individual student placements
    C. Clicking Select All to choose all students on the page once you've checked the first student.

    Caution

You can bulk-assign a maximum of 500 placements at once. If you select more than 500 placements, an alert appears that directs you to reduce the number of selections.

    Alert

If any selected student already has an active learning path or placement, an alert will appear. Bulk assigning a new placement will override their current placement and reset their learning path to the newly selected grade. Please review the alert carefully and confirm before proceeding.

  6. In the Bulk Action modal, select a Grade for Math and/or Reading. Only one grade can be selected at a time for each subject.

  7. Click Next to proceed to the confirmation step.

  8. Review the confirmation modal, which lists the subject(s), selected placement grades, and number of students affected. Click Update to apply the assignments.

Note

Lock Placement and Enable Content Bridge settings can be managed individually for each student's learning path. For more information, see Managing a student's learning path settings.

What happens after assigning placements in bulk?

  • Learning paths are created for students based on their assigned placement grades.
  • Placement assignments and changes are recorded in each student's Student Progress report.

Important considerations

  • If students have existing placements from the Imagine+ Diagnostic or NWEA MAP Growth, bulk assignment will override domain-specific placements and create standard grade-level learning paths.
