Viewing the Student Placement page in Imagine+ Math

Teachers and Administrators can view and manage placement details for their students by navigating to the Student Placement page in Imagine+ Math. This page displays the most recent placement information for each student, including their overall placement grade (assessed grade), the source of the placement, and the placement date.

By default, all students are placed in the Math Mastery pathway when first rostered, but you may see recommendations when assessment results indicate the student may benefit from a different pathway. You can review and apply these recommendations individually or in bulk on this page; however, future assessments may affect placements even if changed manually.

 Note

  • Student placement information is available at multiple levels, though the page layout is the same at each level. Administrators can review placements at the district or school level and can see extra columns for student NWEA or Renaissance IDs when available. This article describes how to view the Student Placement page at the class level.
  • If your school is also using MyPath Reading and/or Imagine Purpose, learning paths for those subjects will also appear on the Student Placement page.

To access the Student Placement page for a class:

Using filters on the Student Placement page

You can use filters at the top left of the Student Placement page to narrow the student list. There is a Filters menu as well as a Path Type dropdown menu to help you efficiently focus on a particular set of student placements.

Available actions on the Student Placement page

The Student Placement page gives Teachers and Administrators powerful controls to manage student learning paths. Below are the key actions available, including special functionality for administrators to perform bulk actions:

  • Assign Learning Path
You can assign the Builder Pathway (for students performing two or more grades below or at least one grade above) to individual students. Administrators can assign learning paths to multiple students in bulk, streamlining placement updates across classes or schools.
  • Deactivate Learning Paths
You can temporarily deactivate any student’s learning path, removing it from both the student’s view and educator reports. This is useful for pausing instruction due to scheduling changes or intervention needs. Administrators may perform bulk deactivation for groups of students.
  • Restore Learning Paths
If a student is ready to resume work on a previously deactivated pathway, you can restore the learning path. The pathway and its progress become visible again. Bulk restoration is available for administrators.
  • Change Pathway Status in Bulk (Admin Only)
Administrators have the ability to change the status (active or deactivated) of learning paths for multiple students simultaneously, ensuring consistency and saving time when updating placements for large groups. Teachers can only deactivate or restore learning paths for individuals.
  • Change Placement Grades
You can change a student's overall placement grade as appropriate—such as when assessment results do not reflect a student’s true abilities or when a student is ready for more advanced material. This change overrides previous domain-specific placements. Bulk grade changes are possible for administrators.
  • Apply Pathway Recommendations (coming soon)
When new assessment data triggers pathway recommendations (e.g., moving students to Builder or Mastery Pathways), teachers and administrators see alert badges. These recommendations can be accepted for individual students or applied in bulk, updating pathways and ensuring students receive the most appropriate instruction based on real-time data.
  • Switch Pathway Type
You can manually switch a student’s pathway type (from Builder to Mastery or vice versa) at any time through placement controls. Admins can switch pathway types for groups of students simultaneously as needed.
  • Customize Learning Path Settings
You can fine-tune each student’s learning path using settings such as "Lock Placement" (to prevent automatic changes from future assessments) and "Enable Content Bridge" (to ensure students placed above grade level begin with lessons from their rostered grade before advancing). These options help tailor instruction to each student’s needs.
