How active time is calculated in Imagine MyPath

 Note

This article applies to the following products:

  • Imagine MyPath Math
  • Imagine MyPath Reading
  • Imagine Purpose K–5
  • Imagine+ Math Beta

Active time in Imagine MyPath refers to the amount of time students spend actively engaged with lesson content in the program. It does not include time spent on the MyPath dashboard or other areas outside the lesson player. Understanding how active time is calculated and tracked can help Teachers and Administrators monitor student usage and progress effectively.

How active time is tracked

The program tracks active time continuously while students are in a lesson, including:

  • Watching instructional videos
  • Completing practice activities
  • Taking mastery checks

Active time is calculated the same way for both learning path lessons and teacher-assigned content (via the Assignment Builder), but it is reported separately for each.

Where to find active time data

  • For learning path lessons:
  • For teacher-assigned lessons:
    • Active time is viewable only on the Assignment Summary page within Assignment Builder.
    • This data is not included in the main MyPath reports.
    • Students cannot view their own usage data for teacher-assigned content.

 Caution

The idle timeout varies by subject. In MyPath Math and Imagine+ Math, there is an automatic logout after 3 minutes of inactivity in a lesson, followed by a 3-minute countdown warning. In MyPath Reading, the idle timeout is 20 minutes. The time leading up to auto-logout is counted as active time, so encourage your students to log out when they are done with their work so that their usage time is as accurate as possible.

 Note

If a MyPath Reading lesson is accessed through the MyPath Math Assignment Builder, the Math idle timeout (3 minutes) applies instead of the Reading timeout (20 minutes).

 Tip

Be sure to follow the usage recommendations for Imagine MyPath to maximize the benefits of the program.
