Imagine Galileo Student Tools

Teachers can enable or disable the tools available to students while taking an Imagine Galileo assessment. The tools, typically located at the top of the assessment window, include a calculator, dictionary or thesaurus, translation, text-to-speech, and more.

item.png The item number is the question number students can use to move forward or backward as needed.
Test_Completion.png Test Completion displays how many questions students have answered and the total number of questions on the test.

Google Translate translates questions, answers, and passages into the applicable language.

Displays the teacher-selected calculator interface.

Displays the dictionary or thesaurus for students to receive details, definitions, pronunciations, etc., or different words that have the same or similar meanings.

Review displays the Review Your Answers interface that enables students to confirm they have answered all questions and reminds them of the questions they may have marked to review.

The menu ( stdtools_menu.png ) button contains additional tools.

  • Add a note enables students to write a note.

    Click View Item Notes ( view_item_notes.png ) to view saved notes.

  • Strikethrough is available for multiple-choice and extended multiple-choice test options to indicate incorrect answer choices.

  • Mark (Unmark) for Review adds a yellow flag (  markforreviewflag.png  ) next to the item number including the Review Your Answers screen.

    Additionally, test item numbers in the drop-down list are yellow-flagged with an asterisk.

    Unmark for Review removes the flag.

  • Enable highlighting text in questions or item stems. To highlight information left click and drag the mouse over the text. Highlighted text is yellow.

    • To stop highlighting: select the menu ( stdtools_menu.png ) button and choose Turn Off Highlighting.
    • To clear all highlighting: select the menu ( stdtools_menu.png ) button and choose Clear All Highlighting.
stdtools_view_item_notes.png The View Item Notes ( view_item_notes.png ) icon only displays for items that contain saved notes that only the student can see.
stdtools_text-to-speech.png The Text-to-Speech menu enables the reading of test questions. Students can stop ( stdtools_stop_text.png ) or pause ( stdtools_pause_text.png ) Text-to-Speech.

The Test Time Limit is enabled by teachers and starts when students first access the test. The test timer counts down to zero even if students exit the test.

If teachers activated Allow Pause, teachers and students can pause the timer. Pausing the timer displays a break screen. Selecting Yes, pause my test! displays the homepage.  

Re-entering the test restarts the timer.
