Checking student completion status for Imagine Language & Literacy assessments

 Caution

This article only applies to organizations who have chosen the default embedded Benchmarks as their placement/assessment method in Imagine Language & Literacy. This article does not apply to students taking the Galileo ELA Benchmark or the NWEA™ MAP® Growth Assessment.

As your students take the Imagine Language & Literacy (IL&L) Benchmark and Reading Level Assessment (RLA), you can view their testing completion status—Completed, In Progress, Not Started, Expired, or Tested Out—in the educator portal and download the information in a CSV file.

Teachers can check the status for students in their assigned groups, School Administrators can check all groups in their school, and District Administrators can view the entire district (on a school-by-school basis).

To view students' Benchmark and RLA completion status:

  1. Log in to Imagine Language & Literacy.
  2. Select a group or school from the bottom of your Home page.
  3. In the drop-down menu to the right of the name of the organization's dashboard, select Growth

  4. Select your report parameters:
    A. If necessary, adjust the filters so that you are running the report for a school or a group (class).
    B. To view Benchmark completion data, choose the Literacy or Oral Vocabulary tab. To view RLA completion data, select the Lexile tab.
    C. Ensure that only 1 assessment is selected in the Test Windows drop-down menu.

     Tip

If you need to check testing status for multiple assessments, run this report separately for each testing window.

  5. In the top left corner of the report (the Overall Placement section), view data for students in each status—Completed, Expired, In Progress, Not Started, and Tested Out. If you're viewing the report at the school level, you'll see the percentage of students in each category; if you're viewing the report at a class/group level, you'll see the number of students in each category. The school view is shown below.

     Note

If you're viewing the Lexile tab, you'll see an additional category for Not Eligible, and the Tested Out category will not appear.

Each completion status is further defined as follows:

    Status Description
Completed Students who have finished the test for the test window you selected.
Expired Students for whom more than 28 calendar days have passed since they last worked on their Benchmark. The data is considered out-of-date and a score will not be calculated for that student in that testing window unless they begin a new Benchmark within the same window.

     Notes

    • In some instances, expired Benchmark tests will automatically be reassigned when the student next logs in. However, the Reading Level Assessment (RLA) can only be reassigned by contacting Product Support
    • When an Expired test is reassigned, it still displays Expired until the student finishes the reassigned test.
    • The Placement test never expires.
    In Progress

Students who started the test during the test window you selected but have not finished it. Once a student begins a Benchmark or RLA they have 28 calendar days to complete it, even if they begin the test on the last day of the test window. (There is no time limit for the Placement test.)

    Not Started

Students who have not started or who have had the test disabled.

    Tested Out
(Literacy and Oral Vocabulary tabs only)

Students who were not presented with the assessment because they were already working significantly above grade level.

Not Eligible (Lexile tab only) Students who will not be given the Reading Level Assessment because they do not meet the eligibility requirements
  6. To download a CSV file with the name of each student and their status, click Download Student Lists.

     Notes

    • This button is not available at the district and student levels of the report or if you select multiple assessments in the Test Windows menu.
    • The CSV file should have the exact same information when downloaded from the Literacy tab or the Oral Vocabulary tab, since the results both come from the Benchmark test. The report on the Lexile tab contains data from the RLA and may differ from the Benchmark results.
  7. Save and open your file.
  8. Sort by the Status column to group students by completion status

     Tip

You can also download students' scores via the download icon in the top right corner of the report. Each tab —Literacy, Oral Vocabulary, and Lexile— has a download button; shown below is the Literacy tab.
