Overview of the Growth report in Imagine Language & Literacy

 Note

This article covers the new Imagine Language & Literacy Growth report. Your organization will have access to this report once your 2024 reset has occurred and you begin the 2024–2025 academic session.

 Caution

This report applies only to students who take the Embedded Assessment, not the NWEA Growth or Galileo ELA Assessments

The Growth report provides students' overall grade-level placement information as well as detailed information about student performance on both the Embedded Benchmark and, if enabled, the Reading Level Assessment (RLA). Benchmark scores are reported in the areas of Literacy and Oral Vocabulary, while the Reading Level Assessment provides a Lexile measure.

In the student level of the report, data from each area can be seen together in the same view

In the group, school, and district levels of the report, student performance in each area will be viewed separately by selecting a tab at the top of the report.

Click on a tab to learn about the color-coding and score ranges in each category of the report.

Literacy Oral Vocabulary Lexile
The color-coding in the report for Literacy data is as follows:
Color Meaning
Red 2 or more grades below
Orange 1 grade below
Mint green On grade level
Dark green Above grade level

The literacy ranges per grade level are shown below. Because the scale ranges only from PreK through Grade 5, students in PreK, for example, can never be classified below grade level, while students in Grade 7 and higher will always be labeled 2 or more grades below. In these cases, you can disregard the color-coded grade-level categorization and instead track only the scores' numeric values as the year progresses.

  PreK K 1 2 3 4 5
Range 58-175 176-550 551-925 926-1400 1401-1915 1916-2150 2151-2317

The Growth report updates within an hour after students complete an assessment. The time and date stamp provides the exact moment of the data refresh:

  • BoY = Beginning of Year, MoY = Middle of Year, and EoY = End of Year
  • Hover over a portion of a bar graph that shows a percentage and you'll also see the student count.

  • A gray pipeline running through a graph separates those students working on or above grade level from those students working below grade level.

To access and run the report:

  1. Log in to Imagine Language & Literacy.
  2. If needed, select a school or group (class).
  3. From the dashboard, review the Growth widget, which provides a high-level overview of your data before you access the report itself. The file will include the following information for each student:
    • Name and rostered grade
    • Completion date of each assessment ("Literacy & OV" = Literacy & Oral Vocabulary, which is the Benchmark, "RLA" = Reading Level Assessment)
    • Literacy scores for each test window (reported as a scaled score)
    • Literacy Assessed Grade for each test window (i.e., the grade level of the content the student is working on, which may or may not match their rostered grade)
    • Literacy Placement for each test window (i.e., a comparison of the student's rostered grade and assessed grade to classify the student as working Above Grade, On Grade, 1 Grade Below, or 2+ Grades Below)
    • Oral Vocabulary scores for each test window (reported as a scaled score)
    • Oral Vocabulary Performance for each test window (Beginner, Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced)
    • Reading Level Assessment (RLA) score for each test window (reported as a Lexile ["L"] measure)
    • RLA Placement for each test window (Above Grade, On Grade, or Below Grade)
    • Growth between assessments (comparing MOY–BOY, EOY–MOY, and EOY–BOY) for Literacy, Oral Vocabulary, and Lexile
  9. To print the report as a PDF, click the printer icon in the top right. At the group level of the report, you'll have the option to print one report for the group or to bulk-print each student's report simultaneously. However, each assessment area—Literacy, Oral Vocabulary, and Lexile—must be printed separately from the applicable tab in the top right of the report.
