Setting usage goals helps Teachers and Students maximize the benefits of Imagine+ Math. For teachers, establishing clear usage goals helps them allocate time efficiently for Imagine+ Math within their overall instructional plan. Goals can also help them integrate the program effectively into their classroom routine. For students, achievable goals help them stay motivated and engaged while encouraging them to take ownership of their learning.
To support students' academic growth and ensure that students and teachers are using MyPath effectively, we recommend the following usage and implementation guidelines:
Student usage recommendations
Time commitments:
- Grades K–2: Minimum of 45 minutes per week
- Grades 3–5: Minimum of 60 minutes per week
- Session length: 15-20 minutes per session working in the program
- Lesson completion: 1-2 lessons per week with a goal of 30 lessons passed in a given school year
For students performing below grade level:
Students who are significantly below grade level should spend additional time in the program to support accelerated growth toward grade-level proficiency. These students may benefit from switching to the Math Builder pathway, which provides targeted skill development and explicit instruction.
Teacher usage recommendations
Data review and planning:
- Spend approximately 30 minutes per week reviewing program data and planning next steps
- Monitor student progress through pathway assignments and lesson completion
- Ensure all students are meeting minimum usage and completion goals
- Identify opportunities for small-group or whole-class follow-up based on lesson performance and pathway recommendations
Pathway management:
- Review assessment-based pathway recommendations for students who might benefit from switching between Math Mastery and Math Builder pathways
- Use the Assignment Builder to create customized assignments for intervention or enrichment
- Monitor students' performance within their assigned pathways and adjust as needed
Student motivation and engagement
A star rewards system for students in grades K–8 can also be a source of motivation. Students earn stars by completing activities and lessons, and earned stars unlock rewards that students can use to personalize their online experience. The rewards system is not enabled for students in grades 9–12, but all students can customize their experience at any time by choosing different sidekicks and backgrounds available on their My Stuff page.
