Using Imagine Language & Literacy at home

This orientation video explains how parents and caregivers can help their student succeed with Imagine Language & Literacy. First, it explains how to access Imagine Language & Literacy from home, including what devices and browser to use, how to log in, and how to retrieve your student login information if you don't have it.

After your student logs in, they'll take an adaptive test. Make sure your student completes the test on their own because their performance determines their individualized learning path tailored to their needs. The test can take more or less time depending on your students' responses: some questions will be easy, others will be harder. If your student needs to log out before they're done with the test, they'll pick up where they left off the next time that they log in.

If your student is an English Language Learner, they can use Imagine Language & Literacy in 15 other supported languages. Contact your student's teacher if your student needs to hear Imagine Language & Literacy in another language. As your student uses Imagine Language & Literacy, they earn Booster Bits, which they can use to customize their avatar and play games.

How parents and caregivers can support their students

  1. Help your student set a regular time and place when they can focus on using Imagine Language & Literacy. Contact your student's teacher to find out how long your student should use Imagine Language & Literacy each week (also referred to as their weekly usage goal).
  2. Help your student log in to Imagine Language & Literacy from home or retrieve their login information if they don't have it. After your student logs in, they'll take an adaptive test.
  3. Make sure your student completes the adaptive test on their own. How your student performs on the adaptive test will determine their personalized learning path, so completing the test independently ensures that your student receives the right lessons. Encourage your student to do their best if they get frustrated.
  4. If your student needs to use Imagine Language & Literacy in another language, contact your student's teacher to change their audio language. (For a list of supported languages, see First language support.)
  5. As your student uses Imagine Language & Literacy throughout the school year, ask them to read the stories they encounter aloud to you. Ask them to show you the literacy skills they are learning and developing.
  6. Review your student’s progress with their teacher throughout the school year. Discuss your student’s overall progress as well as their growth metrics, test results, performance predictions for state tests, and skill areas where they may be struggling.
