Imagine+ Diagnostic is a computer-adaptive benchmark assessment that can be used to determine student placement in Imagine MyPath. This article explains how Imagine+ Diagnostic fits into the placement workflow, what to expect with syncing results, and where you can find more detailed information.
How Imagine+ Diagnostic supports placement in Imagine MyPath
- Assessment administration: When the Imagine+ Diagnostic has been scheduled and is set as the placement provider in MyPath, students are automatically routed to take the assessment if they click the MyPath tile during the open testing window.
- Domain-level analysis: The assessment measures student performance across multiple domains in math or reading. These scores are used to determine each student's starting point and path in Imagine MyPath.
- Personalized paths: Once Diagnostic scores are synced, MyPath adapts each student’s learning path to their current skill level and needs.
- Updates with each assessment: Whenever students take the Diagnostic again, their placement in MyPath can automatically update based on new results. Students will never be assigned work they have already mastered.
Key considerations for educators
- Student experience: During an open Diagnostic window, students launching MyPath will be taken directly to the test in Imagine+ Assessment, streamlining access and administration.
- Automated data sync: Placement updates in Imagine MyPath typically occur within three days after a student completes the Imagine+ Diagnostic.
- Manual placement: If needed, you can manually adjust a student’s placement. Future Diagnostic results may override manual changes unless placements are locked.
- Returning and new students: Returning students keep last year’s placement until new assessment data is available. New students can be manually assigned a placement if they haven’t completed the Diagnostic yet.
- Assessment scheduling: Use the Scheduler tool in the Imagine Assessment platform to assign and manage Diagnostic assessment windows for your students.
- Assessment frequency: To monitor growth, space Diagnostic administrations at least 45 days apart.
