Accessing Live Learning Support in Imagine+ Math

Live Learning Support provides students in grades 3-5 with real-time assistance from qualified tutors while working in their Math Mastery and Math Builder pathways or in Assignment Builder assignments. This just-in-time support helps students overcome obstacles and maintain momentum in their learning without unnecessary frustration.

 Before you begin

For general information about Live Learning Support, see Introducing Live Learning Support in Imagine+ Math. For service hours, see On-Demand Tutoring (ODT) hours in Imagine MyPath Math.

When tutoring is available

Students using Imagine+ Math can access Live Learning Support while working on particular components of a lesson:

  • Math Mastery pathway: Tutors are available during Guided Learning activities.
  • Math Builder pathway: Tutors are available during Supported Practice activities.
  • Assignment Builder: Tutors are available during Guided Learning activities in Practice lessons or Supported Practice activities in Instruction lessons.

Students can access a tutor as many times as needed. There is no limit to how often they can connect with a tutor.

Accessing Live Learning Support

The Live Learning Support icon is located in the bottom left corner of the screen but is greyed out until a student has attempted at least one question.

If a student tries to click on the icon before attempting a question, a message appears that encourages the student to try answering the question on their own first.

After attempting a question, the Live Learning Support icon becomes active, and students can click on it to initiate a request for help.

A pop-up will appear after clicking the icon. Students can click Chat Now to confirm that they want help from a tutor or Close to return to the lesson.

Using Live Learning Support

When a student clicks Chat Now, Live Learning Support will launch in a new tab of their browser. The tutor will begin the chat by greeting the student. It may take 30-60 seconds for a tutor to initiate the chat, so students are encouraged to be patient.

Students can respond to tutors by typing in the chat box or using voice-to-text. The tutor may also invite the student to collaborate using a digital whiteboard. If the tutor would like to conduct an audio call with the student, they will initiate a huddle.

To connect to a Spanish-speaking tutor, students should request it when the chat first begins or simply respond to the tutor's greeting in Spanish, and then they will be transferred to a bilingual instructor if their current tutor can no longer assist.

To end a chat, students should click the X in the top right corner of the page and then End conversation to confirm. Students will resume their lesson where they left off before initiating the chat.

The tutoring platform saves each chat transcript. While in a tutoring session, students can click the Homework Help tab to review transcripts of chats from previous sessions.

If you would like a copy of a chat transcript, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) and provide them with the student's username.

 Note

If a student behaves inappropriately during a tutoring session, the tutor flags the chat as inappropriate. The tutoring team reviews flagged chat sessions and takes any necessary actions, including notifying the school.

Technical requirements

To use Live Learning Support, students need:

  • A device with a microphone and speakers or headset (for voice communication)
  • A stable internet connection (minimum 1.75 Mbps recommended)
  • A supported browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari)

Frequently asked questions

Why can't my student access the chat icon right away?
Students must attempt at least one question before the chat becomes active. This encourages productive struggle and helps students engage with the lesson content before seeking help.
What if tutors are not available?
If students attempt to access tutoring outside of service hours, they will see a message indicating when support will be available again. Students can continue working on their lesson independently.
