Live Learning Support connects your students in grades 3–5 with qualified math tutors in real time—right when they're working through a challenging problem. This personalized support helps students overcome obstacles, stay confident, and keep progressing in their lessons without waiting for classroom support.
Grade availability
Live Learning Support is available exclusively for students in grades 3–5 using Imagine+ Math. This service is not available for students in grades K–2.
Getting started
Live Learning Support is automatically available to eligible students. No additional setup is required. Students can access tutors during Guided Learning (within the Mastery pathway) and Supported Practice (within the Builder pathway) after submitting an incorrect answer to a question. Live Learning Support is also available in lessons assigned through Assignment Builder.
For step-by-step instructions, see Accessing Live Learning Support in Imagine+ Math. For service hours, see On-Demand Tutoring (ODT) hours in Imagine MyPath Math (Live Learning Support and On-Demand Tutoring share the same service hours).
Introducing Live Learning Support to students
Consider the following when introducing this feature to students:
- Show students where the Live Learning Support icon appears and explain that it becomes clickable after submitting an incorrect answer
- Explain that tutors guide thinking through questions rather than providing answers directly
- Encourage students to explain what they tried and where they need help
- Reinforce that attempting problems independently before requesting help supports mathematical learning
What Live Learning Support offers
- Question-by-question support: Students can request help after answering incorrectly, with the icon becoming clickable again only after attempting each new question.
- Curriculum-aligned guidance: Tutors are trained specifically in Imagine+ Math content and pedagogical approaches to provide consistent, targeted support.
- Spanish-language support (availability varies): Students can request Spanish-speaking support by selecting that option or typing in Spanish, but Spanish-speaking tutors may not always be available.
- Interactive tools: Tutors use chat, voice communication, and digital whiteboards to explain concepts and guide problem-solving.
- Session transcripts: Chat histories are saved so students can review previous tutoring sessions.
Who are the tutors?
Your students work with qualified educators who specialize in math instruction. Live Learning Support tutors:
- Are experienced math educators with teaching backgrounds
- Have completed FBI background checks and fingerprinting
- Receive comprehensive, ongoing professional development
- Are trained specifically in Imagine+ Math curriculum and adaptive learning approaches
- Provide support in English and may also be available to support students in Spanish, though Spanish-speaking tutors are not guaranteed to be online at all times.
Best practice
Live Learning Support is designed to complement, not replace, classroom instruction. The feature becomes available only after students answer incorrectly, encouraging productive struggle before providing assistance. This just-in-time support helps students overcome specific obstacles while maintaining the independence and critical thinking essential to mathematical learning.
