Imagine Purpose K–5 Overview

Imagine Purpose K–5 is a comprehensive social and emotional learning (SEL) program designed to foster essential skills in elementary students. This program aims to enhance self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, aligning with the five competencies defined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).

The primary objective of Imagine Purpose is to equip students with foundational SEL skills that promote positive attitudes and behaviors. By integrating SEL into your classrooms, the program supports students in building healthy relationships and enhances their overall school experience.

Curriculum Structure

Imagine Purpose Prep offers a scaffolded, age-appropriate curriculum that introduces students to:

  • Recognition of emotions: Students learn to identify six primary emotions and recognize them in themselves and others.
  • Emotional regulation: The curriculum emphasizes healthy emotional responses and coping strategies.

This structured approach not only prepares students for academic success but also helps them navigate the complexities of their social environments. Refer to the Imagine Purpose K–5 lesson inventory to see descriptions of the lessons for each grade level.

Engaging Learning Environment

The program employs a media-rich learning experience that captivates young learners. Through interactive lessons and engaging characters like "The Sparks," a cosmic crew of emotions, students are encouraged to explore their feelings and communicate effectively.

Research-based Framework

Imagine Purpose Prep is grounded in research and designed specifically for young learners. The curriculum is aligned with CASEL competencies, ensuring that it meets the developmental needs of students while providing educators with the necessary tools to implement SEL effectively.

Flexible Implementation

Recognizing the diverse needs of school communities, Imagine Purpose offers flexibility in its implementation. Educators can choose from various models:

  • Whole-class instruction: Facilitated lessons that promote community-building and relationship modeling.
  • Individual student work: Opportunities for self-reflection and personalized learning paths.
  • Hybrid approaches: A combination of independent work and class discussions that reinforce SEL concepts across subjects.

This adaptability allows schools to tailor the program to fit their unique goals and priorities.
