Reassigning Benchmark tests in Imagine Español

Reassigning a Benchmark allows students to start it over from the beginning and wipes out any previous scores students received for that assessment. In Imagine Español, reassigning can happen in 2 ways: automatically or manually.

Automatic Reassignments

If a student begins a test but doesn't finish it within 28 calendar days, the student's testing status changes from In Progress to Expired. However, upon the student's next login, the test will automatically be reassigned in the following scenarios:

  • Placement tests: Since Placement tests do not have testing windows, they will always be restarted after more than 28 days since the student's last login.
  • Benchmark tests: If the student logs back in after the test expires and the same test window is still open, the program will reassign the Benchmark and the student will automatically restart the test from the beginning.

Once a student begins work on a previously expired test, the student's testing status changes from Expired back to In Progress. If they complete the test, their status changes to Completed and their score will appear on educator reports.

 Notes regarding automatic reassignments:

  • Students always restart a reassigned test from the very beginning, even if they finished part of the test in a previous attempt.
  • It is possible for tests to be automatically reassigned more than once. Ensuring that students log in on a consistent basis will prevent this.
  • Only expired tests can be automatically reassigned.

Manual Reassignments

Manual reassignments are made at the Teacher's or Administrator's discretion after viewing students' completed test results in the Growth report. If a student receives a Benchmark test score that doesn't seem appropriate for their skill level, you can reassign the test to any student in your purview, and no scoring or progress will be retained from the student's initial assessment.

 Caution

Only the Benchmark tests in Imagine Español can be manually reassigned; the Placement test cannot.

 Notes regarding manual reassignments:

  • You can only reassign a Benchmark test for the current testing window, and the testing window must still be open. If the window has closed or has been disabled, the Benchmark tests can't be manually reassigned.
  • Only completed tests can be manually reassigned. Tests that are in progress can't be reassigned.
  • Manually reassigning tests is done on a student-by-student basis.
  • Tests can only be manually reassigned once per testing window; if you need to reassign a test more than once for the same student, contact Imagine Learning Product Support

 Caution

Once a student completes a reassigned test, the student's original score for that testing period is removed and cannot be restored. Only the score from the reassigned test will display.

Reassigning a Benchmark test will:

  • Invalidate the most recent Benchmark score for that test period.
  • Remove the most recent Benchmark score for that testing period from any reports.
  • Administer the Benchmark test to the student the next time they log in.
  • Preserve the student's prior progress in the Imagine Español curriculum.

     Note

The student's status will continue to display Expired until the student starts the assessment. Once they start it, the status will change to In Progress.

  8. The student receives the new assessment the next time they log in to Imagine Español (if they aren't logged in when the reassignment occurs) or when they finish their current activity (if they are already working in the program at the time of the reassignment).
