Note
This article applies to the following products:
- Imagine MyPath Math
- Imagine MyPath Reading
- Imagine+ Math Beta
As a Teacher or Administrator, you can manage key pathway options for each student in Imagine MyPath from the Student Placement page. The two key settings are:
- Lock Placement: Prevents future assessment results from automatically changing a student's placement grade. The path will still adapt based on student performance within lessons.
- Enable Content Bridge: Lets students placed above their rostered grade review critical on-grade skills before advancing. This setting is visible when a student is placed one or more grades above their rostered grade.
This article explains how these settings work and when to use them to best support your students.
Note
For step-by-step instructions on how to change a student’s placement grade, see Changing a student's placement grade.

To access the Edit Placement modal on the Student Placement page:
- Log in to the Product Portal and select the desired product.
- Select a class.
- Click Student Placement in the top navigation.
- For the student placement you wish to edit, click more options (
) and select Edit Placement.
Tip
Use the search bar to find any student by name.
- In the Edit Placement modal, you’ll see checkboxes for Lock Placement and (when eligible) Enable Content Bridge.
Locking a Placement
The Lock Placement setting keeps the current overall placement grade from being changed by any future Imagine+ Diagnostic, NWEA MAP Growth, or Renaissance Star assessment results.
To lock a student's placement grade:
- In the Edit Placement modal, check the box labeled Lock Placement for the selected learning path.
- Click Update to save.
Note
- Lock Placement only applies to the selected student placement, so if you want to enable the setting for all of a student's learning paths, you must do so for each subject separately.
- Even when locked, the program continues to adapt instruction based on performance within assigned lessons.
- To unlock, simply return to the Edit Placement modal and clear the Lock Placement box.
Enabling the Content Bridge
The Content Bridge is available when a student’s placement is set to one or more grades above their rostered grade. By default, the bridge is off—students begin at their placement grade. Enabling the content bridge lets students review essential skills from their rostered grade before moving ahead.
To enable the content bridge:
- If your student is eligible, check the box labeled Enable Content Bridge in the Edit Placement modal.
- Click Update to save.
Note
If you disable the Content Bridge after a student has begun working in their path, the system will retain data for any bridge lessons they've already completed. After the current lesson, their learning path skips directly to their assessed placement grade—removing any further lessons from lower grades. The path will continue to adapt if a student needs remediation. Domain prioritization is not affected—students begin with the first sequenced domain at their placement grade.
