Overview of Imagine+ Formatives

Imagine+ Formatives® are short, standards-aligned assessments designed to provide educators with a quick snapshot of student learning for Grades K–8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Math. As part of the Imagine+ Assessment suite, these ready-made assessments help teachers monitor student progress on specific skills and standards to inform day-to-day instructional decisions.

What are Imagine+ Formatives?

Imagine+ Formatives are pre-built assessments targeting specific skills and knowledge. Key characteristics include:

  • Focused design: Each formative focuses on a single skill or a small set of related skills
  • Fixed-form structure: Standardized questions for easier comparison of results across students
  • Standards alignment: Aligned to state standards for all 50 states
  • Efficient assessment: 3–7 items per formative (5–10 minutes to complete)
  • Immediate feedback: Automatic scoring provides instant results

From the Formatives dashboard, Teachers and Administrators can search for formatives by subject, grade, standard, or keyword. You can also:

The Assignment Summary report provides:

  • Class/group view: Completion status, average scores, and student counts by proficiency category

  • Standards alignment: Performance organized by standard to help inform instruction
  • Visual indicators: Color-coded proficiency categories to help identify areas needing attention
  • Supporting skills: Data on non-standard-aligned skills that support target concepts
