Units in Imagine Español are divided into lessons, which are subdivided into activities. Open up a question below to learn more.
How many units per grade?/lessons per unit?/activities per lesson?
- All grade levels contain 6 to 8 units.
- Kindergarten has up to 11 lessons per unit, but most other units contain between 4 and 6 lessons.
- The number of activities per lesson varies widely. Some lessons have as few as 6 or 8 lessons, and some have 40 lessons. The longest lessons occur in Grades 1 and 2. However, overall, most lessons have at least 20 activities.
How long is an activity?/How long is a lesson?
The length of each activity ranges from 1 to 9 minutes, but the vast majority are 4 minutes or less.
Since both the number of activities in each lesson as well as each activity's length vary, it's difficult to state an average lesson length, but each lesson could easily take more than an hour.

How adaptable are the activities in the lesson?
Imagine Español's "Smart Sequencer" will add or skip activities into students' assignments based on:
- The grade-level content of the activity
- If the student's language support is English or Spanish
- How well the student performed on certain skills
How much remediation is inserted as students complete lessons?
All Imagine Español lessons have remediation available; the remediation activities are inserted immediately after a student demonstrates need of them. This can occur multiple times within the same lesson.
Can I preview activities and lessons?
Yes. You can preview the activities grouped within each lesson, as well as the lessons in each unit, in the Lesson Explorer.
Can I see which lessons each student is working on and what they will be working on next?
Yes, the Progress by Unit report shows you the lessons each student is working on. The curriculum is linear, so what the student works on next will be the next lesson they haven't started (or tested out of) yet.
In the example below, Maria is working in Unit 4 for Grade 1. Click the link of the unit name to preview the activities in that lesson.

No, you cannot disable activities or lessons for your students.
