Imagine MyPath's Assignment Builder is a tool that teachers and administrators can use to create assignments that support student learning in their classrooms. Once an assignment has been created, educators can use the Assignment Wizard to assign the assignment to individual students, small groups, or entire classes. To learn more about the Assignment Builder tool, go here.

Use this article to learn how to create a new assignment and assign it to students.

Both teachers and administrators can preview the lessons; to assign them to students, you must have classes associated with your account. Student data on assignment progress is only visible to the teacher who assigned the lesson.

  2. Click Assignment Builder in the left navigation menu.
  3. Select a Subject and Enrolled Grade, and click Access Lesson Explorer.

  6. Choose New Assignment on the drop-down list that appears.

  7. Enter a unique assignment name. Add details to make it easy to find. Then click Continue to save the assignment as a draft.
  8. Click Assign and proceed to the Assignment Wizard to assign the assignment to students. You can also return later to make updates to the assignment under the Drafts view.

To assign an assignment to students

  1. Click Select Full Class to add all students in a class to the Selected Students panel. Or click the caret to expand the class roster and select individual students. You can also use the Search Student bar to find particular students.assignment-wizard-select-students.png
  2. Verify that the correct students were added to the Selected Students panel. If needed, remove students by clicking their names. Click Continue to proceed.
  3. Enter a name for the assignment that your students will see in their My Assignments folder when they sign in. Select a due date if desired, or select No due date. To assign a due date, choose Select due date and either enter a date or choose a date on the calendar. Click Continue to proceed.

Assignments with a due date remain active for students who have not completed the assignment.

  4. Select an assignment icon to serve as a visual identifier for the assignment for students who may struggle with reading. Click Continue to proceed.

  5. Verify the information is correct, make any needed changes, and click Finish to assign the assignment to the selected student(s) or class.

You cannot add, remove, or rearrange lessons after assigning an assignment to students. You'll need to create a new assignment if you want to change the order of lessons or if lessons were included or left out by mistake. After the assignment has been assigned, you can edit the assignment name, assignment icon, due date, and selected students. See this article to learn how to edit, close, or delete an assignment.

  6. A confirmation pop-up will appear after clicking Finish, and the assignment will be accessible to students from their My Assignments folder when they next log in to Imagine MyPath.
