This article applies to Imagine Reading and Imagine Lectura.
Each Imagine Reading and Imagine Lectura unit begins with a Focus Question. The Focus Question is the key theme that students explore throughout the unit. All the passages that students read and discuss in the unit help them unpack and answer different aspects of the Focus Question.
At the beginning of each unit, Teachers should introduce the Focus Question and lead a brief discussion about it. Each Focus Question includes a video that introduces the question, as well as a written-response comprehension question for students to share their initial thoughts on the topic.
- Be sure to grade students' written responses to the Focus Question.
- As students progress through the unit, revisit the Focus Question to see how students' thinking develops over time.
