Administrators and Teachers can use the Action Areas Tool to identify which students need additional support and then choose Intervention Tools and resources to intervene with those students. You can filter students by group or time period. Then you can view student performance data by student name, skill area, or academic standard that students need support with. The academic standards available to choose from in the View By drop-down list depends on which state your school or district resides in.
Once you've identified which students need additional support, you can click Intervention Tools to see more details, printouts, and activities to reteach, reinforce, and intervene with your students for that skill or academic standard. You can also create and assign a playlist of activities from the Action Areas Tool for students who need additional support with a specific skill or academic standard.
To identify students who need additional support
- Log in to Imagine Language & Literacy.
- Click Action Areas in the upper navigation pane.
The first time you access the Action Areas Tool, a tutorial shows you how to use key features of the tool. You can access this tutorial any time by clicking Tutorial in the top right corner of the page.
- Filter your students using the Organization, Student Group, and Time Period filters, then click the skill area in the left pane to narrow your results.
Filter Description Organization This filter narrows your results to a specific organization (school or district). Student Group This filter narrows your results to a specific student group, such as a grade level or class. Time Period This filter narrows your results to a specific time period, such as the past 7 days or the past 180 days. View By The filter narrows your results to a specific academic standard, skill, or individual student. All Skill Areas The left pane displays each skill area and the number of your students who need additional support in that skill area. Click the skill area to see which skills students need additional support with, or click All Skill Areas to see all areas where students need additional support. Hover over the number next to the skill area to see the names of the students that need additional support. - Once you've identified which students need additional support, you can view student performance data by academic standard or skill or by student name.
To view student performance by academic standard or skill
- Chose Skills or Standards in the View By drop-down list. The skills or academic standards where the most students need additional support are listed first. Click the number in the Students column to see which students need additional support with this skill or academic standard.
- Click Open Intervention Tools to see details, printouts, and activities to help you intervene with the student for that skill or academic standard.
To view student performance by student name
- Click Students in the View By drop-down list. Students who need additional support in the most skills are listed first. When you click a student's name, it displays all the skills that the student needs additional support with.
Note
If you see the Curriculum icon (
) next to a student's name, this means that the student has completed all of the available curriculum for this skill (including remediation), but still needs additional support.
- Click Open Intervention Tools to see details, printouts, and activities to help you intervene with the student for that skill or academic standard.
