Editing student accounts (including session time and language support)

After initial rostering is complete, Administrators and Teachers can edit student account information and account settings throughout the year. Administrators can edit information for all students in their organization; Teachers may only edit the students in their own groups.

The fields available to be edited differ based on whether you edit an individual student account or perform a bulk edit of multiple student accounts at the same time.

  • Audio Support (Imagine Reading and Imagine Lectura students only)
Multiple students (bulk edits)

 Caution

If your school uses a Student Information System (SIS) that syncs regularly with Imagine Learning, certain fields will be locked from editing within the Imagine Learning products. The lock symbol displays by these students in various places to indicate that the students' information must be sent to Imagine Learning on the next file, which subsequently updates their account. 

Fields without a lock may be updated within the program at any time.

Editing Individual Student Accounts Editing Multiple Student Accounts (Bulk edits)

To edit account information for individual students:

  1. Log in to the Literacy suite

     Caution

    • To edit session time and language support, you must log into and start the edit process from Imagine Language & Literacy or Imagine Español. 
    • To edit audio support, you must log into and start the edit process from Imagine Reading or Imagine Lectura.
  2. Click Manage Students under the Manage heading. (Depending on your role and product, you may have to select a group first before arriving at the page with the Manage section.)

     Note

    The screen shot above is from Imagine Language & Literacy. The other products' Manage Students button is in a similar location on the right side of the page. 

  3. If needed, perform a search or navigate through the pages to find the applicable student.
  4. Click the pencil icon of the student you want to edit.
  5. Make your change(s) and click Save.
    Field Description
    First Name The student's first name.
    Last Name The student's last name.
    Student ID A unique combination of numbers that identify the student to both the school and the Imagine Learning product(s). Student IDs can be a maximum of 64 alphanumeric characters.
    Alternate ID

    Specifies the student's state ID (optional).

     Note

    Imagine Learning does not require this field, but your state might. If your state requires this ID, it must be unique.

    Grade Level The student's current rostered grade level. 
    Username

    The unique username that the student uses to log in to the Student app. Usernames must be a unique combination of letters and numbers.

     Note

    Students must have a unique username and password to log in so that they do not accidentally begin another student's session.

    Password

    The unique password that the student uses to log in to the Imagine Learning Student app.

    Organizations The organizations or schools to which the student is assigned. To assign this student to an organization or school, choose the organization or school name from the drop-down list. To remove a student from an organization or school, click the X next to the organization or school name.
    Groups The groups (classes) to which the student is assigned. To assign this student to a group, choose the group name from the drop-down list. To remove a student from a group, click the X next to the group name. 
    Session Time  The amount of time (in minutes) the student should play Imagine Language & Literacy or Imagine Español during a single session. If the student is enrolled in both products, it applies to both products.

     Note

    Imagine Reading and Imagine Lectura do not have session times.

    Language Support: Language & Literacy

    The audio support language for the student if they are using Imagine Language & Literacy. The audio support language translates instructions for the activities while the student uses Imagine Language & Literacy.

    Choose the audio support language the student needs from the Language Support drop-down menu. The default language is English.

    Available languages are: Arabic, Cantonese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Marshallese, Portuguese—Brazil, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.

    Language Support: Español

    The audio support language for the student if they are using Imagine Español. The audio support language translates instructions for the student activities while the student uses Imagine Español.

    The default language is Spanish. English is also available. 

    Audio Support: Imagine Reading and Imagine Lectura The ability for students to hear the text read to them aloud by pressing the speaker symbol. The default is Yes (enabled); the setting can be disabled by selecting No
