Moving students between classes, teachers, and schools in Imagine Math Facts

If you are a District Administrator, you can move students between schools, teachers, and classes; if you are a School Administrator, you can only move students between the teachers and classes within your school. If you are a Teacher, you can only move students between your assigned classes. Only students who are assigned to one class can be moved to another class. When you move a student to a different class, any pathways assigned to them in their previous class are moved to the new class.

If a student is assigned to multiple classes, you'll need to remove their student account from their previous class and then add their student account to the new class. When you remove a student from a class, it also removes their assigned pathway(s). If you want to retain the student's pathway from one class to another, contact Imagine Learning Customer Care (support@imaginelearning.com) to move the pathway to the new class.

 Note

When you see Managed by SIS next to accounts or classes, it means that your district uses a Student Information System (SIS) integration tool to manage school administrator, educator, class, and student accounts within your district. To update information for these accounts, contact your district's IT staff since they have permissions to make account changes.

Before you begin

  • If you see Managed by SIS next to accounts or classes, check with your district's IT staff to find out if you can move student accounts.
  • Make sure that the student you want to move is only assigned to one class—the class you want to move them from. If the student is assigned to multiple classes, remove their student account from their previous class and then add their account to the new class.

Troubleshooting

Here are some quick solutions to problems you might encounter when trying to move students.

I get an error when I try to move students

If you see this error when you try to move students

Error -- The following students failed to transfer: [student name]. The problems are: Student cannot be transferred, multiple classroom transfer not supported.

it means that the student can't be moved because their account is assigned to multiple classes. In order to move the student, you need to first remove them from all but one of their classes.

  • If the student is assigned to multiple classes and is working on a pathway in more than one class, contact Imagine Learning Customer Care (support@imaginelearning.com) to move the student to the new class so that they don't lose any of their previous work.
  • If a student is assigned to multiple classes, but is working on a pathway in one of those classes, do these steps to ensure that the pathway is moved to the new class:
    1. Remove the student from all their current classes except for the one where they are assigned to a pathway.
    2. Move the student from their current class to the new class. Moving the student ensures that the pathway assigned to them in their current class is moved to the new class.
  • If the student is being removed from a deactivated class, contact Imagine Learning Customer Care (support@imaginelearning.com) for help.
