Checking which placement method your organization is using

Administrators and Educators can check which placement method their district is using for initial student placement by logging in to the Literacy portal and checking the Growth widget on the Imagine Language & Literacy Dashboard. Your district may have chosen one of these placement methods: Imagine Language & Literacy Placement Test, Galileo ELA, or NWEA MAP Growth.

Imagine Language & Literacy Placement Test

The Placement Test is an embedded assessment within Imagine Language & Literacy. If your district has chosen the Placement Test as their placement method, the test is given to new Imagine Learning students the first time that they log into Imagine Language & Literacy. Once they complete the Placement Test, students will start Imagine Language & Literacy curriculum.

Because the Placement Test is an embedded assessment, students have a seamless experience when they transition from the Placement Test to Imagine Language & Literacy curriculum. Administrators and Educators can also check student test status and view test results from within the Imagine Language & Literacy Dashboard.

Galileo ELA

Imagine Language & Literacy integrates with the Galileo ELA, another Imagine Learning assessment that is used to place students. If your district has chosen the Galileo ELA as their placement method, the test is given to students the first time that they log into Imagine Language & Literacy. Once they complete the Galileo ELA, students will start Imagine Language & Literacy curriculum.

After students complete the Galileo ELA, Administrators and Educators can view detailed student results (including individual student answers) by accessing Galileo through the link highlighted below in your Imagine Language & Literacy dashboard.

NWEA MAP Growth

Imagine Language & Literacy integrates with the NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) MAP Growth assessment—a third-party assessment. If your district has chosen NWEA MAP Growth as their placement method, your district must connect their NWEA student accounts to Imagine Language & Literacy student accounts to import MAP Growth test results. (For instructions on how to connect NWEA and Imagine Language & Literacy accounts, see Using NWEA™ MAP® with Imagine Language & Literacy.) Imagine Language & Literacy then uses students' MAP Growth scores to determine where they should be placed. Once your NWEA and Imagine Language & Literacy accounts are connected, your students can begin Imagine Language & Literacy as soon as they log in.

 Note

If your students start using Imagine Language & Literacy before their NWEA and Imagine Language & Literacy accounts are connected, students will take the Placement Test when they first log in. Once your NWEA and Imagine Language & Literacy accounts are connected, Imagine Language & Literacy will use students' MAP Growth scores to refine student placement.

After students complete the NWEA MAP Growth, Administrators and Educators can view reports and information about student performance by logging in to the NWEA portal.
