Making the best assessment decision for your school or district

Testing guidelines

Language & Literacy collects student performance data via the Placement Test/Benchmark Test, Reading Level Assessment (RLA) Powered by The Lexile® Framework for Reading, and embedded activity checkpoints (scaled scores). All students will take either the Placement Test or Beginning Benchmark Test, and receive scaled scores from activity checkpoints. The Middle and End Benchmark Tests and the RLA are optional. Imagine Learning recommends the use of the Benchmark Test system to all customers; the RLA is recommended only if the provided Lexile measures are required. The table below is intended to help you determine which assessments and data to consider for your implementation.
