How does the first benchmark test determine pathway lessons?

All students are required to take the first benchmark test as their first action in Imagine Math. The student’s nominal grade level (as provided by teachers or administrators when the student account is created) will be used to determine the “starting point” for the adaptive Benchmark 1 test.

The test will then assess the student's readiness for grade-level math content. The student's instructional grade level result will be used to determine the precursors added to his or her pathway in order to prime the student for grade level work. Teachers and Administrators are advised not to input a grade level other than the current grade level of the student. This will result in less reliable adaptive Benchmark 1 and future benchmark test results.
